Description

The first of two art trades that I did after participating in [link] Join in, it's fun. :D

This is Calypso, a very cute character(just look at that yummy hair!) who belongs to :iconsilvercelestt777: and can be seen here [link] and here [link] and here [link] (I mainly worked off the tradtiona piece, which I shouldn't have done, the colours would be much closer to the original design if I'd followed the digital versions, oh well XD)

I think I've taken a step forward with this piece, it seems...better than previous pictures. :D I had a lot of fun with this, it took me a day and a half. Now to colour the other art trade!

This character does not belong to me.

The character here is drawn in a cute style, although there's also a sense that the girl is slightly different to normal children; the cute yet creepy plush, the circuit board background. Whether this is intentional or not, it is a nice effect; it gives the viewer a feeling of curiosity, leaving them wanting to know more.

However, there are a few things that could be fixed up. The first thing is the anatomy. Bearing in mind that the character is a child, the proportions are mostly correct, however the legs seem to be too far apart. Also, the right arm looks...odd, although I'm not quite sure why. I think it may have something to do with the shape & angle to the body.

The second thing I'll point out is that, although original and quite eye-catching, I'm not sure the circuit board works with the image as a whole. It feels detached from the character somehow, that's all. Still, that's probably just my own opinion kicking in the background, so I'll digress.

Overall, this is quite a nice picture. Anatomy is hard, as I know very well, and the best thing I can suggest is looking at reference images such as photos. This is something I do when posing my characters, and I find it helps quite a bit. If you do want to find some pose references for human anatomy, try *Tasastock or ^PirateLotus-Stock
